Reuters - A local newspaper in northwest Pennsylvania apologized on Friday for running a classified advertisement that called implicitly for the assassination of U.S. President Barack Obama.

Ohio man arrested for mowing unkempt grass at park (AP)

AP - An Ohio man arrested for mowing unkempt grass at a public park said he just wanted to make his city look nice. John Hamilton said he took control of the situation because the grass in Sandusky's Central Park was about a foot high. According to a police report, a witness said Hamilton was blowing grass onto the sidewalk and shredding trash in the park that had not been picked up.

Rescued black labrador retriever pays it forward (AP)

AP - Blewett the black Labrador retriever knows what it's like to need a little help. For nearly a week last March, the lost dog barked for attention on Washington's Blewett Pass, capturing the hearts of dozens of travelers who fed him and tried unsuccessfully to catch him. After he was finally captured, Jay and Janie Smith of Plain, Wash., gave him a home.

Accused reckless driver allegedly kicks troopers (AP)

AP - Oregon State Police arrested a 27-year-old woman accused of driving recklessly and kicking a state trooper in the face. The woman was in the Multnomah County Jail on charges of reckless driving, driving under the influence, attempting to elude an officer and assaulting an officer.

Pa. man marries during jury deliberations in trial (AP)

AP - A Philadelphia man asked a judge to perform a wedding ceremony while the jury in the man's criminal trial was still deliberating the verdict. Timothy Zalut, 20, was on trial on assault charges this week in Bucks County Court. When it appeared that he might have to go to jail, Zalut decided to tie the knot with his fiancee, Hayley Dykstra.

Alabama golfers get back-to-back aces the hard way (AP)

AP - Pierre Fournier and Ken Osborne hit back-to-back holes in one — just not necessarily in that order. Playing in the same five-person group, Fournier teed off first, but his ball landed some eight feet past the hole, rolled back to the cup and didn't go in until after Osborne's had gone in. The two Muscle Shoals golfers managed that bizarre feat at Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club recently on the 112-yard par 3 12th hole.

Brazen parrot steals passport, heads into bush (AP)

AP - Polly wants a passport — and isn't above stealing one. A brazen parrot, which spotted a Scottish man's passport in a colored bag in the luggage compartment under a tour bus, nabbed the document and made off into dense bush with it, the Southland Times newspaper reported Friday.

Police nab Germany’s most wanted criminal (Reuters)

Reuters - Germany's most wanted criminal has been captured outside a pub in Hamburg's redlight district ending a nine-year manhunt, police said on Friday.

Sex scandal Miami priest quits Catholic Church (Reuters)

Reuters - A popular U.S. Roman Catholic priest photographed frolicking with a woman on a Florida beach announced Thursday he had joined the Episcopal Church to pursue the priesthood in a faith that allows married clergy.
